troversy. We have had lively discussions on
the subway route and plans for Roxbury Park
improvements, all with diverse opinions.
The other shows are about our history and
called "Then and Now." The guests who
have appeared include venerable community
leaders such as Rose Norton, Ken Norian,
Mel Spitz, Joan Seidei, Janet Salter, Dr.
Charles Aronberg, Ed Brown, Donna
Ellman-Garber (three former mayors),
Fred Cunningham, Gloria Seiff, former
fire chiefEd Daley, and many more. But we
need your Suggestions. These interviews will
help maintain our history and should become
valuable viewing for future generations too.
Email me your suggestions. (You can also
view the shows on the city's web.)
If the program has any success it is largely
because of the incredible professionalism of
the city's television staff and crew, and the
support of the city's communication depart-
ment, and Therese Kosterman.
On the topical issues, the only guest who has
appeared twice was Southwest Homeowners
Association president Ken Goldman, who
presented his opinions on the subway route
and later a show on Roxbury Park. Ken is a
natural on TV. His views on Roxbury were
well balanced by then Recreation and Parks
Commission chair Alan Block, who present-
ed the city's position, and did so very ably, as
did department head Steve Zoet. There were
important differences, but it was done with
respect and tolerance of city needs.
Again, welcome your thoughts on subjects
and guests. See email address that follows.
And if you want to appear, you don't need an
agent. Just hit the send button.
Final note:It will soon be officially
announced that Dick Rosenzweig will chair
a very special committee to organize plans
for the city's 100th Anniversary in 2013.
Richard is an excellent choice and I know
he will make this an all-community event,
bringing together all of our diverse talents,
leaders and volunteers.
Rudy Cole served for eight years as a
member and chair of the city's Recreation &
Parks Commission. He was also President
of the Greystone Foundation and served on
three other city committees. Rudy can be
reached at: [email protected].
