ii t - By Scott Huver The Universal Studios Backlot was the scene for one of Los Angeles' most universally ities, and within 30 minutes the various European, Old West, Ancient Roman and Egyptian- Style backlot streets were so packed with partygoers it looked more like the adjacent theme park as trams carrying envious tourists routinely whisked by. Soon the gates were open to all ticket holders, and throngs of partiers were soon sampling complimentary cuisine and spirits from an incredible azsortment of Los Angeles-area restaurants and night spots - so many that ,this reporter and his entourage had to pace themselves after filling up early so they could go ~ck for more (darn you, Krispy Kreme!) There was also a variety of entertainment options, ranging from a Comedy Club hosted by former "Little House on the Prairie" co-star Alison Arngrim, a' Charlie s Angels" look-alike Contest on the steps of Spartacus Square, boot-scootin' dance lessons from Oil Can Harry's in ~udio City at the Backlot Bunkhouse, a disco dance area co-sponsored by radio stations KIIS I~M and KBIG, and a Mega 92.3 Latin dance party at the center of a set that looked straight out of "The Mummy Returns. . ......... In addition to some of the mostprominent members and supporters., Ol AI-'LA ana tn~ region's, gya and lesbian community, there were also several famlhar. . faces on hand, includ- ing cast members from a litany of daytime dramas and cable sertes hke Showtime's "Queer as Folk ' The biuuest head-turner however, was easily Playmate of the Year and "Baywatch awaii" star Brande Roderick, who hosted the casino ~md looked every bit the ultimate cen- terfold in her hot pink ensemble with plunging neckline.
