Family Acts, Dreams and 50s Hits, Local Teens Looking For Normal Run, don't walk to the Geffen Playhouse to see "Looking For Normal," the fabulous new play starring Beau Bridges, his son Jordan Bridges and Laurie Metcalf, who you'll recognize from TV's "Roseanne" and "Norm." This is a spectacular night of theater. Just ask the box office. Tickets are selling out like crazy. The play explores the life of a seemingly "normal" American family and what happens to them when the hard- working, traditional father (Beau Bridges) announces that he wants to become a woman! Written by Jane Anderson (screenwriter of "How To Make An American Quilt" and "It Could Happen To You,") and directed by Tony Award- winning Roy Lagomarsino, this is one Laurie Metca/f, Michael Learned and Beau Bridges show you don't want to miss. The per- forming arts department there is national- ly known and it's no wonder why. The students always put on such a profession- al production year after year. This year, the performing arts department will pre- sent the beloved "Music Man." This clas- sic musical is one of my all-time favorites. Long-time residents will recall that this show was performed at the high school in 1966, 1980, and 1989. The 1980 cast included Gina Gershon, who is famil- iar from the John Travolta film, "Face Off." The 1989 cast included the now- famous Monica Lewinsky. So hang on to your program, lblks.
