I write as a concerned parent of chil- dren in our schools. I read about the out- rageous attacks by Virginia Maas at the school board meeting, but I had not seen the fiasco. Therefore, I watched with interest the immediate past meeting to see if any board member would react. I was astonished to learn the follow- ing: 1) there was no discussion about the violent behavior by Mrs. Maas as being inappropriate. The viewing audience is comprised of adults and school-aged children, and certainly some mention should have been made to let our chil- dren know that Mrs. Maas's strident action was improper. 2) Mrs. Maas, apparently still angry at the world, voted against a permit policy recommended by the superintendent which would prevent school board members from influencing ,or attempting to influence, members of the school administration when children living outside Beverly Hills try fo attend our schools through the issuance of child-care permits. As we all know, members of our com- munity as well as the attorney for the school board have called Mrs. Maas's child-care permit into question. How "% ' does Mrs. Maas define "conflict of inter- est?" Or, maybe she would vote down that concept also. I would certainly sign a recall petition, as my children will not obtain the education which they should if Mrs. Maas remains a School Board member. Isadore Alterson Beverly Hills "Can't We All Get Along?" l remember the bumper stickers after a certain president's election that read "Don't Blame Me- I didn't Vote for Nixon." I'm taking up collection for a slight but pertinent revision: "Don't Blame Me- I Didn't Vote for Virginia Maas." At least Nixon had the courage to resign. Can we hope for the same from the sell-righteous Mrs. Maas? Some say she should be recalled. I say let's recount the votes. No one in their right mind would now admit that the)' voted for Virginia Maas. Simon Kline Beverly Hills t.. PIZZERIA ENCINO 17040 Ventura Blvd. Encino, CA 91316 (818) 9o6-8881 BEVERLY HILLS 240 S.
