By Irv Rudman Chicago at Stardust The band that has been praying jazz, rock and blues for the past 34 years will appear in back-to-back engagements at the Stardust Resort and Casino in March at the legendary Wayne Newton Theater. The foursome that founded the band in 1967 and pioneered the conccpt of a rock band with a strong horn section is still going strong as the central core of the eight-man group. Lee Loughnana, James Pankow, Watt Parazaider and Robert Lamm say that their friendship has helped keep the band together for all the.qe years. They all met in Chicago, (my hometown,) in tile 1960s and were first known as the Chicago Transit Authority. Their first album was released in 1969. Some of their hit songs have included "Saturdays in the Park," "Just You And Me," "Hard TO say Im 5orry'" and "If You Leave Me Now." Tickets to the Chicago performances cost $59.95 and include tax, tip and one beverage. She weighed ~cvcn pound~, five ounces and measured 20 inches long. Little Gwendolyn has been born onto a very famous stage. Her late grandfather is the world-renowned acting genius Lee Strasberg. Her grand- mother, Anna Strasberg, received a call to come to the hospital for her granddaugh- ter's birth while she was busy directing David L. Ray's new play "Before I Wake" at the Marilyn Monroe Theater at the Lee Strasberg Creative Center in West Hollywood. "Just call me grandma. We now have a new leading lady in the fami- ly and her name is Gwendolyn Lee Strasberg, I have to admit though, the best roles ever written anywhere are those of mother and grandmother, and now I'm both," said Strasberg. Lindsey Strasberg, the beautiful new mother, is an entertain- ment attorney at the Beverly Hills-based firm of Bloom, Hergott, Diemer & Cook. David Strasberg, the proud new father, heads The Group at Strasberg, a produc- tion company. He is also the chief execu- tive officer of the Lee Strasberg Creative Center and the New York-based Lee Strasberg Theatre Institute. Congratulations to the Strasberg family. lrv Rudman is the consumer affairs editor for the Beverly Hills Weekly.
