Haben Hagos was fouled as he hit the tying basket with five seconds left, but missed the ensuing free throw. Host El Segundo made a free throw with seven sec- onds left in overtime while Norman guard Billy Smyth missed an 18-foot shot as time expired as the Eagles triumphed, 64-63. Beverly Hills led 36-28 at halftime after outscoring El Segundo, 21-10, in the sec- ond quarter. However, the Eagles outscored the Normans, 18-5, in the third quarter, taking a 46-41 lead into the fourth quarter. "That's been a bugaboo iror us all season," Beverly Hills coach Jason Newman said after his team lost its 12th consecutive game. "It seems we play really inspired the first half, and then seem to suffer a letdown coming out for the third quarter. It's something I'm not quite sure how to address." The Normans (4-17, 0-10 in league play) will play host to league-leading West Torrance Friday at 7:30 p.m. at the Swim-Gym. High School Football Beverly Hills High School wide receiver Ron Monteilh and linebacker Brent Nash were both named to the Southern Section All-Division II team announced Jan. 19 by the Southern Section. Monteilh was also selected to the All-Southern Section second team, comprised of players from all 13 divisions. "We were real excited to have two guys named to the All-Division II team even though we didn't make the playoffs," Coach Carter Paysinger said. "It's a real tribute to them and our program. Ron's selection to the All-Southern Section team was just phenomenal." Monteilh led the Normans with 51 receptions for 727 yards. Nash led the team in tackles with 119, the second consecutive season he was its leading tackler. Monteilh and Nash are the 50th and 51st All-Southern Section selections in the school's history.
